Lars Johansson
Head Veterinarian at Sunbyholms Hästklinik
Lars started riding at 8 years old and started helping in the stables at the Solvalla trotting track at the early age of 12. His thoughts at that time were to become a trainer of trotting horses.
At 16 years of age he decided that if he was to become a good trainer he should learn to balance and shoe horses, and went through training to become a farrier.
After this time he underwent military service and then headed to the USA where he worked with trotting horses with Delvin Miller, Joe O'Brien and Sonny Graham.
When he returned from the US he spent a short time with trotting trainer Gösta Nordin before studying physiotherapy which lead him to veterinary school.
Lars obtained his veterinary license in 1981 from SLU and from 1982 - 1985 completed a rotating training programme in the ATG clinics.
From 1985 - 1990 he was the Clinic head at the ATG Equine Hospital in Sollefteå as well as working at the trotting tracks in Solänget and Boden.
Between 1990 and 2002 he became the Clinic head at the ATG Equine Hospital in Umeå, again working at Solänget and Dannero.
Since 1987 Lars has been on the Veterinarian Board approving new Stallions for breeding warm and cold blooded trotting horses in Sweden.
Lars has worked as the Head of the Clinic at Sunbyholm since 2002.
