Stromsholm Equine Referral Hospital is located in beautiful rural surroundings in a lake district in central Sweden, 100 km west of Stockholm. It is one of the leading referral hospital for horses in Sweden. A total of 12 veterinarians and a staff of 40 are employed. Of the 7000 patients treated annually, 70 percent are referred for medical work-up, advanced diagnostic imaging, surgical procedures or intensive care. The hospital currently has a total of four Diplomates in Surgery, Ophthalmology and Internal Medicine. The separate but co-located Stromsholm Small Animal Referral Hospital has Diplomates in Surgery, Ophtalmology and Clinical pathology.
The 3500 square meters facilities and the equipment are of an excellent standard. The Diagnostic Imaging modalities include ultrasound with colour flow doppler, tissue doppler and contrast program, scintigraphy, digital radiography, and digital fluoroscopy. The Laboratory, headed by a Diplomate of the ACVCP, performs all possible types of analyses in-house, including haematology, clinical chemistry, immunology, hormone analyses, cytology, histopathology, bacteriology, mycology and parasitology. The hospital is highly computerized, with total integration of the medical record system and the diagnostic imaging modalities, digital ECG and lab. The hospital has its own conference facility and an extensive library.
Presently the hospital has an accepted Residency program in Surgery. Our co-located Stromsholm Referral Animal Hospital has Residency programmes in Surgery, Ophthalmology, Clinical Pathology and Diagnostic Imaging.
As our current Diplomate ECEIM Internal Equine Medicine is leaving us we are searching for a Diplomate of ECEIM or ACVIM Equine Internal Medicine to continue and further develop the hospital's referral service in internal medicine.
• take an active part in clinical case management
• contribute to the hospital's internal and external continuing education programme
• supervise a Residency programme. Also, internal medicine rotations are part of the surgery Residency program
A permanent position is preferable, but employment over a limited time may also be of interest. Excellent working conditions and possibilities for professional development will be offered.
